Day 30: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

I know I've been slacking, dear "readers." But this is a filler post until I write what I want to write here. So please be patient!

Day 29: Hopes, Dreams and Plans For the Next 365 Days

I guess I have a lot of hopes, dreams, and plans. I don't really know which ones to share, so here are a bunch:

  • Make Dean's List for my last semester
  • Graduate cum laude (maybe magna?)
  • Find a job...and not even a "real" one...just one that'll pay me
  • Save every other paycheck in hopes of funding either cross-country or trans-continental travel
  • Apply for (and hopefully go on) birthright
  • Do something with this strange mess of hair I've got going on
  • Grow sunflowers in my apartment
  • Get a pet that doesn't breathe underwater or perform photosynthesis
  • Keep up with my art stuff, maybe even get serious about it
  • Start writing again
  • Have more positives than negatives

Day 28: This Year, In Great Detail

Seriously? No thanks.

Let's just say that after deciding to be happy, real, genuine happiness followed easily. I'm not letting go of the balloon, I'm just realizing that it's okay for it to float miles above me. I trust that it won't pop.

Day 27: Your Month, In Great Detail

Honestly, I'm tired of "great detail." So here are a few pictures.
Plus, if you've been reading, then you pretty much know what's up.
Word.

Day 26: Your Week, In Great Detail

I think it's time for me to go back to grade school, because I'm not sure if I should start this on Sunday or Monday. Welp, since it's Sunday, I'm gonna start on Monday. Take that, tradition! Also, "great" detail is relative. Mostly because I'm way too lazy and I can't even remember that far back.

Monday I woke up at the ungodly hour of 6:43 AM, got ready for work, and headed off to the train station. At work, Aryanna (Mrs. Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and I dove into the dark waters of silly bands and got crack coffee (aka the most highly caffeinated coffee in the world).

Tuesday I went to class, where we had our first critique. Our professor, Shida, is hilarious and basically told us that everything we make can be considered ash trays. We learned a new technique and were assigned our third project. To stay out of the rain, Mario and I stayed in the studio until 4. At 6, I met up with Aryanna and Alex for cheap sushi on St. Marks, and then we met up with the rest of the interns, Cecilia, and Dan for intern happy hour. We sat around, drank beer, ate popcorn, talked about publishing & tattoos.

Wednesday was a work day, and in the morning I dealt with a little drama, so I decided to stay a little late (think 5:30, 5:45). Annoyingly, my agent asked me to do something at 4:45 and then didn't give it to me until around 6. So I hopped a cab and went to 7th and C to meet my lovely Berliners for pommes, bratwurst, and bier. It was amazing to catch up and reminisce about the best summer ever.

Thursday I went to class, and I finished making my sculpture! It still has to dry, get fired, be glazed, then get fired again, but it's sculpted and I'm super happy with it. I had frozen yogurt for lunch, which was the best decision ever. I stayed a little late to finish, then I worked on some "personal" projects and put off starting the next one. I thiiiiink I took the train home and just hung out with my dog--I probably took him for a walk and then watched a movie with him. He's my baby!

Friday I went into work, and ended up being the last intern in the office. I stayed until 2:30 or so, then took the train home and lazed around my house. Staying in the city late on Tuesday and Wednesday really wore me out. My dad came home from flying at 7 and we went to Sonic for dinner! It was his first Sonic experience and he flipped for it. I can't possibly imagine why. Then my mom came home and we went to the fireworks in Berkeley Heights. I really don't know how they do it--they manage to have the best colors, shapes, and sounds. The fireworks go on for at least 40 minutes and they are truly, truly, amazing. And any of the boys reading, it was WORTH IT to miss Inception, cause I can see that whenever I want! And you missed the fireworks! Neener neener neener!

Saturday can be found here--I refuse to retype it.

Sunday I slept until noon (by accident). I hate sleeping late on Sundays--when I wake up, I only have 11 hours until I have to be asleep again. It's impossible! So I tried to make myself tired by *drumroll* doing nothing all day! I hung my new mirror, doodled on it, and then probably took Kolby for a walk. Dinner, TV, wine, weekly Nora-chat, sleep.

My life is so exciting! Hah. Not.

(Retroactive) Day 25: Your Day in Great Detail

I know that this is a day late, but I didn't want to write about my day before it was finished!

So, I woke up at 10:30 to my dad letting Kolby into my room, which is more than OK by me. He just jumps onto my bed and curls up and my feet or wanders up to my face and falls asleep. It's my favorite way to transition between asleep, half asleep, and being a real person. Some time around noon, I emerged from my room to find my computer and sat in the sun doing some reading for my internship. My agent asked me to read a full manuscript that she's been working on--it's called The Pfeffernoose Chronicles, and though I haven't gotten very far, it's very well written and I can't wait to get into it.

I helped my mom unload the groceries when she came home from the store and then we all sat down to have lunch. I hadn't had enough caffeine and it was already something like 2:30 so I was cranky and read the comics instead of speaking. Pretty sure I didn't have my glasses on, so I started getting a headache and had to put them down.

Then I decided to be nice to my mom and clean my room--it wasn't necessarily dirty or even messy, I just hadn't put away my laundry in two weeks. So I hung everything up, organized my drawers, and made my bed. I found a spider underneath a magazine and freaked out, but I managed to kill it myself! Without screaming! I was so proud!

I took a shower, changed my pants 4 times, and then took Kolby for a walk. It was still seriously hot outside so we didn't go as far as I wanted to. I'm always afraid of him overheating since his fur is black and he's still getting used to getting a lot of exercise (we didn't really take him on many "walks" when we lived on Clydesdale). I decided that I'm going to start carrying a bowl and some water so we can stop and take a break.

More The Pfeffernoose Chronicles reading happened, and then I made plans with Marc to hang out eventually. The leftover macaroni and cheese in my fridge was calling my name, so I heated it up and ate dinner on the couch with my Kolby. We watched Bobby Flay lose "Throwdown" twice--and I HATE Bobby Flay. He was so awesome back in the days of "Grillin and Chillin" but now he's just a jerk.

Around 9:30, I met up with Marc and Kevin at Scoops, where of course I had smurf ice cream in a rainbow sprinkle cone. What else would I eat there? We sat outside for a while, Marc and I messed around with Kevin ("How far do you want to take this?" "Well, we have to leave the parking lot..."), then we started leaving Scoops and coming back without a plan. We ended up in Marc's basement for a while, watching BATTLE BUTTER with Cat Cora (I'd already seen this stupid Iron Chef like 3 times) and then switching back between Shrek 2 and Troy.

At midnight or so, I left Marc's to go see KIMBERLY. I missed her so much!!! I'm so glad that she's home and my Thursdays can officially be reserved again. We played in her room while she unpacked and spilled everything about our summers so far. We snuggled a little and I hit my head on her shelves like 4 times, but I'm pretty sure my skull has conformed to those shelves. I went home at 3 AM. Pretty typical Magda & Kim time, I'd say.

And that's my standard Saturday for ya. I'll probably write a much shorter entry for my Day 26: Your Week, In Great Detail. How much detail could you possibly want? I do the same things on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and then the same thing on Tuesday and Thursday. So, we'll see how that goes. Talking to my metaphorical audience makes this blog seem much more important than it is. GOODBYE.

Day 24: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car.
I hate it when you stare.

I hate your big dumb combat boots,
and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick;
it even makes me rhyme.

I hate the way you're always right.
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.

I hate it when you're not around,
and the fact that you didn't call.
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you.
Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

Ten Things I Hate About You makes me immeasurably hopeful and immeasurably sad that Heath Ledger is dead.

I'm not going to tell you what it is.
Just watch it!

Day 21: A Recipe

Well, I'll never tell you the secret to my brownies. They start from a box, but I have magic secret ingredients, and frosting tricks. So, the answer is no!

But, here is a fabulous blog that I follow, Bittersweet. The author is sarcastic and hilarious, and almost every recipe makes my mouth water and motivates me to (someday) make the delicious treats.

Day 20: A Hobby of Yours

Making Mix CDs

Even though I might consider myself to be a vague sort of writer, I've never thought I was quite good enough at getting my feelings into the open, out from my brain and through my mouth to be left lingering in the air and floating into the space between someone else's ears. I always get too worked up or too nervous and the words just jumble and I stop making sense and I do my best to laugh it off and forget how off target I've gone.

So instead, I made mix CDs.

Days and weeks and sometimes even months are put into making sure everything is just so--not too many slow songs all at once, not too many of the same artist, and I always look up all the lyrics to make sure I'm expressing exactly what I want to. They are eighty-minute pieces of my heart, and I really hope they mean something special to the people I give them to.

Day 19: A Talent of Yours

I don't know if I really have a ~talent.

But I can pop the bottom socket of my little thumb and make it sound like a heartbeat. And I can crack most of the joints in my body, including my wrists, knees, and elbows. I can fold my tongue into a three-leaf clover. I can wiggle my ears!

I think that's all I've got...

Oh, and I won the Clue party last night! Mostly because I...uh..bent the rules a little, but HECK YES. I was so excited.

Day 18: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

CLUE PARTY TONIGHT.

I'm gonna be Ginger Spice!
Except a little less...um...exposed.

Day 17: An Art Piece

This is a sculptural piece done by my ceramics professor, Shida Kuo. He's pretty amazing.

Also, let's talk about what my day's been like so far. First, I got into work & felt half dead so I went out to get another cup of coffee. I came back to find my intern reimbursement check sitting on the intern desk. AND I had made an error and got an extra $4.50! This check is almost $180! And THEN I logged into my e-mail and saw that my payment had been processed on StubHub, so I have anther $119 that I didn't have before! Well, I guess it's technically only $29 I didn't have before, but this whole "being too nice" thing just paid off. BUT then I saw an e-mail from my agent that basically said, I'm not coming in tomorrow, you don't have to if you don't want to! Here are just a couple things I'd like you to do. And that's about today. Damn not checking my e-mail!

So now I'm sitting at work with a giant coffee and procrastinating the few things I have to do. Since I'm already here, it would be a waste to just leave. Half day it is! Huzzah!

Day 15: A Fanfic

Ehhh, not so much.

BUT...back in the day when Chelsea, Emily, Kate, and I would order Chinese food and watch Buffy until all hours of the night, I loved to google awkward fanfics and read the grossest parts out loud to them.

Can you imagine? Spike & Zander? Giles & Buffy? ANGEL & TARA?!

Day 14: A Nonfiction Book

I read this for a class a loooong time ago, and I remember it being quite interesting. Also I just watched Slumdog Millionaire for the four thousandth time, so I have slums on the brain.

Day 13: A Fictional Book

I said I was going to read this book this summer, but after reading people's bad proposals all day, I'm all read out once I get on the train. Plus it's about a million pages long.

Day 12: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

Just a playlist (link) I've been working on.
I numbered the tracks instead of leaving them in their original song/artist format--I hope that means they order themselves once they're opened in iTunes.

Oh, and an image from my favorite new "web comic": Stuff No One Told Me. It's amazing!

Day 11: A Photo of You Taken Recently

Taken by Kevin during an intense game of "You Got Served" (6/25). HOLLA.
