Day 07 – A Picture of Your Most Treasured Item

Geez, this is full of hard questions!!

I could punk out and say something like my hard drive, my cell phone, my iPod, but I'm gonna have to go with Eskimo. I've had him for 15 years and I STILL hate spending a night without him.

It's unfair how this asks me to pick one! So here are three:

Day 01 – A Picture of Yourself With 10 Facts

I'm sure you guys have all seen this photo...since it's my favorite picture of myself to-date, it's all over the internet. Currently it's my default-default photo.

And here are 10 facts, most of which you'll already know, because, well, you know me.

1. My thumbs are different sizes.
2. When I was in elementary school, I lied and said I was allergic to jelly because I didn't like jelly doughnuts and they wouldn't let me be picky unless I had an allergy.
3. I love my dog an unbelievable amount.
4. My transcript (finally) officially reads that I graduated magna cum laude.
5. I have an insatiable wanderlust. People tell me that I'm lucky to have traveled as much as I have, but all I want is more.
6. Living in New York City isn't for me. For now, I like it, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll feel the same.
7. I want to have 2 or 3 kids (3 if there are twins!) and 2 or 3 dogs (probably 3, because I love them so much).
8. My dream car is a black Ford F-250. I'm aware of how weird that is.
9. I'm incredibly anal about the way things are organized...whether that be rainbow order, height order, alphabetic order, or just filed into very detailed categories.
10. My love for Hanson is old enough to have had a Bar Mitzvah.

"Everything Matters!" by Ron Currie Jr.

I was reading on the train back to the city from New Brunswick (another post for when I have the energy to be long winded) and I've grown so invested in it that when one of the characters received heartbreaking news, I cried. Like burning-nose, blurred-vision, punched-in-the-gut kinds of feelings.

I'm so unbelievably happy to feel so connected to a piece of literature. I don't know the last time I had that kind of reaction to something I was reading, other than news articles (the world can be a sad place).

I can't put it down. In fact, I gotta go read, because I'm still only about 2/3 the way through and I can't stand to not know what's about to happen.

New 322-Days Resolutions

So I took a survey at the end of 2010 and it asked me about resolutions. Unfortunately, because I'm lazy and kinda lame, I didn't really make any. "Save more money" might be a good thing to do in 2011, but it's not something that will really make 2011 a better year. Maybe 2012 or 2013, but I digress. Here are a few things that I want to do in 2011, for 2011 and for myself, inspired by some of the newer company I've been keeping.

Write. Not blog. They're very different things. Last night I went back to my old composition notebook I started freshman year and there are only a few blank pages left. I'm going to fill them and get into the journal I got for Israel. Yes.

Read. And not on the Internet!! Right after I graduated I went out and bought all these books because I was so stoked on leisure reading, but somehow between December and February, none of them were touched. Or loved. Or read. And I owe them that.

GO TO YOGA. At least twice a week! My beautiful sister got me a mat for Christmas and it's hardly been used, which is a shame. My walk to and from work every day does not qualify as exercise and I need to be nice to my body. It gets me places.

Breathe. Slowly and deeply, into my chest and my stomach and my toes. This is inspired by yoga (not very subtly) but there's something to be said about taking every breath all the way in. I think it'll make me more relaxed and more motivated. Maybe even more focused on things not on this glowing screen.

Oh, And I Totally Forgot!

I was complaining to you guys about how I was waiting forever for my grades, right? Cause Albert will never be my friend, right?

Well guess what? (How many questions can I ask in one post?)

I waited patiently until I got back from Israel to check (even though I found wifi in a few places), and somehow I pulled it off!

I'm graduating Magna Cum Laude!!

Suck on that, NYU!

Apparently I Fell Off The Face of the Internet

So I've been back from Israel for about two and a half weeks, and honestly, it's distracting how much I miss it. I have a really big problem called "accidentally-hit-F12-instead-of-delete," and that Tel Aviv weather widget keeps teasing me with its 63° at 7 PM.

Weather aside (and let's be honest, scenery, history, culture, schwarma, spirituality, and everything else amazing Israel has to offer aside), being away from the people is what really breaks my heart. This past weekend, Zack stopped in New York for a few days on his way out of the country to join the IDF (and here's a plug for Zack--he hasn't started blogging yet, but I set up a blogger for him so we can all keep tabs). It'll be hard to forget the image of Zack's head popping up out of the ridiculously large crowd at 13th Step when WE R WHO WE R came on (it's kind of a thing, alright?) and the feeling of giving him one last hug then chucking his stuff into a taxi and waving him off.

But it'll also be hard to forget how exciting it was to walk into Penn Station and see Elissa waiting for Zack and me, and then for more and more people to slowly gather and squeeze at one table; once again the loud and obnoxious Americans. I wouldn't have it any other way. Almost everyone I know who went on Birthright had an insanely wonderful time, but I definitely heard stories of groups that were full of cliques, snobs, and generally lame people--I feel lucky to have had the former. I feel lucky that I get to see some of these people ('sup Rebecca, hopefully soon-to-be 'sup Jess) on a regular basis, and that others are willing to travel in and out of the city so we can sit around and kvetch and nosh. I hereby promise to make similar treks so that we can all see each other as much as possible.

And, because it HAS been two and half weeks since I got back, you all deserve an update on my life here in the city. Well, it's cold. Right now I'm working 9-6 (actually 6:30, sometimes later) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. This is what I look like when I'm at work (taken today, I think around noon):

Usually I'm a little more business casual (biz cas...how do you actually abbreviate that sound?) but I was running late this morning so I just grabbed a t-shirt and threw on a blazer. Plus, it is Wednesday (please check out this link if you don't understand the reference...but I'll cut you a break because you can hardly see my shirt). Everyone in this office is really great! The actual work bit of it can get a tad boring, but I know that everything I'm doing is very helpful and important, so it balances itself out. It's also a bit of a difficult adjustment because pretty much all of my friends are still in school, so they have homework, papers, exams, etc. But when I'm done with work, I'm done, and I get a little lonely not being able to spend my free time being, well, free.

And now, because I can't write much more than this at one time, especially about myself (I can hear you laughing, Dad), this is the end. But do expect more frequent updates! Sorry I'm a slacker; I love you all!!
