Best Start to the Morning
So this morning my boss sent me out with $20 to pick up some water for a professor. I got to Gristedes and picked up three packs, excited that they were on sale for $5.99, forgetting about bottle deposits and NYC's sales tax. At the register, the total came to $20.46.
Embarrassed, I waved the $20 bill and said, "Can you please take one off? This twenty is all I have on me."
The cashier looked at me and said, "You don't have forty-six cents?"
"No, just this."
So she looked at me, smiled, and pressed the "exact change" button, giving me all three packs and ignoring my short change.
New York City, sometimes you really, really surprise me, and I'm thankful for that.

And When it Snows, It Blizzes
This weekend: bus ride, red lights, sweaty palms, bliss, walking in the snow, pizza, ferrets, snuggling, lounging, closed Bed Bath & Beyonds, 2 feet of snow, failed quests, sliding in the snow, canceled bus, movie-watching, wandering around, more snuggling, campus, shoveling, waiting, departure, sadness.
