Face Pressed to the Velvet Sky

Updates about life soon (as soon as I install my new camera's software on my computer), but until then, Alex Dezen is easily my favorite person in the world. Evidence as to why he should be yours too:

The Damnwells

This is a video I took of the Damnwells at their show on Thursday!!
It was incredible, I was seriously speechless and couldn't move the entire time.
Thank you, Alex Dezen, for always being so unbelievable.

Ruthless

But there you go for the last time
I finally know now what I should have known then
That I could still be ruthless if you let me
But there you go and I'm not done
You're waving goodbye, well at least you're having fun
The rising tide will not let you forget me
Forget me

This is your ghost that kneels before me
Razors on her tongue, a body full of oxygen
It won't be the last time she'll ignore me
The thinning of my skin, without the strength to go
The winter's setting in, to cover you in snow

But if I built you a city,
Would you let me?
Would you tear it down?

But there you go for the last time
I finally know now what I should have known then
That I could still be ruthless if you let me
But there you go and I'm not done
You're waving goodbye, well at least you're having fun
The rising tide will not let you forget me

I'll raise towers and climb them
Rivers and walk them
Oceans to drown in
You won't make a sound in

Day 20: A Hobby of Yours

Making Mix CDs

Even though I might consider myself to be a vague sort of writer, I've never thought I was quite good enough at getting my feelings into the open, out from my brain and through my mouth to be left lingering in the air and floating into the space between someone else's ears. I always get too worked up or too nervous and the words just jumble and I stop making sense and I do my best to laugh it off and forget how off target I've gone.

So instead, I made mix CDs.

Days and weeks and sometimes even months are put into making sure everything is just so--not too many slow songs all at once, not too many of the same artist, and I always look up all the lyrics to make sure I'm expressing exactly what I want to. They are eighty-minute pieces of my heart, and I really hope they mean something special to the people I give them to.

Day 12: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

Just a playlist (link) I've been working on.
I numbered the tracks instead of leaving them in their original song/artist format--I hope that means they order themselves once they're opened in iTunes.

Oh, and an image from my favorite new "web comic": Stuff No One Told Me. It's amazing!

Day 1: Your Favorite Song

Well, that would be impossible for me to choose.

So here are three!

Other things worth noting today: I walked an entire avenue that smelled like chicken flavored Ramen, and once the smell disappeared, I came down with the hiccups. Strange.
